Tonsilectomy Pictures

Brooklyn trying to prep herself for the IV
After the IV - she didnt' want to look at it. Just wanted me to take a picture of it so she could see it later.

Being Goofy Getting ready for surgery!
Feeling anxious and giddy. The nurse came in right after this picture to put her in a wheel chair and told her they were going to give her medicine to calm her nerves and that we would wheelchair race through the hallway on the way to surgery. The medicine they put in her IV was a sedative and we didn't race through the hallways but Brooklyn thought we were going pretty fast. When we got to the OR they lifted her onto the operating bed and the anesthesiologist began to talk to her...she liked him because he was wearing a Looney Toon hat and a NY Yankee lanyard with his name tag on it, so they were friends, any way he began talking to her and asked her how she was feeling...and she with her eyes half shut, half glazed over answered, " I FEEL GREAT!!!" (you have to say it like a stoner though cause that is how she was sounding) She could barely tell me good-bye. He gave her the meds to make her fall asleep and asked her to count to ten and I think she made it to 3.

This was her post op. Believe it or not she wanted me to take these pictures. She was so out of it and kept saying the funniest things. She kept trying to grab her straw with her mouth and kept missing it. It was pretty funny.

These next 2 pictures were a special request from Brooklyn. She asked the Dr. if he would save her tonsils and maybe take them home. He said in the old days he would have let her take them home but he can't allow that any more. He did however keep them in a ziplock bag for her to inspect. As soon as she came to - she wanted to see them. Then she wanted to make sure that there were plenty of pictures of them - since she was pretty sure she wouldn't remember them.

Our Dr. said that he tonsils were deceiving large that the bulk of them was below what he could see. I hope that her strep throat cases will diminish if not go away!
